Blowing dust / sand tests are executed to judge the influence of dust and/or sand on various objects. These tests may cause different types of failure, such as:
  • penetration into cases or housings
  • change of electrical properties (faulty contacts, change of contact resistance, change of comparative tracking index, etc.)
  • jamming or stiffening of movable parts (bearings, axles, pivots, etc.)
  • surface abrasion
  • damage to optical surfaces
  • contamination of lubricants
  • obstruction of ventilation inlets/outlets, pipes, filters, openings, etc.
