The salt fog test is used for the intensified corrosion testing of metals and alloys. The increased degree of corrosion which the salt fog test implies is due to the very high concentration of an electrolyte which considerably enhances the speed of corrosion.
The severity level of the test depends on the salt content in water, the test temperature and the test cycle chosen.



The salt spray test was developed by an automotive group to test the life cycle of some designated car components under intensified circumstances.

The test is used primarily for the intensified corrosion testing of metals and alloys.
